Workout & Feel Awesome
There is a direct correlation between exercising and feeling good. Most trainers out there say that this is because you get to see your results.
Which you do, however, this is like watching grass grow, you know it’s going to happen however you just can’t see it because you are always watching it grow millimeter by millimeter.
The main reason why we feel awesome right after a workout is because we are chemical beings, and chemicals rule us regardless of how hard we try to deny it.
The main chemical that is released in our bodies when we workout is lactic acid. The misconception behind lactic acid is that the soreness that we experience two days after is because of lactic acid build up.
This is simply not true. Lactic acid is completely flushed out of our bodies two hours after our workouts. Lactic acid is that warm fuzzy feeling we feel when we workout a certain body part, it’s the “pump” we have right after the workout. What we feel a few days after is called DOMS (Delayed on Set of Muscle Soreness). This pain that we have is our bodies understanding what damage we did during the workout that the lactic acid was hiding. I will go into DOMS on another blog post.
Some other chemicals that are dumped are dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins. Dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins flushe the brain because on a subconscious level our bodies crave exercise. So, to give you a reward for exercising your brain releases dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins and makes you feel like you are on top of the world. One instructor I had once called it: “Exercise, the drug of choice.” Now to release these feel-good chemicals you don’t have to go and kill yourself in the gym, you can just do non-strenuous workouts and get those chems flowing.
So, whenever you just don’t want to go to the gym and find every excuse in the book to not go. Just remember that you are going to feel amazing you can get some chemicals released that will make you feel like a rockstar, and you will look awesome.
