HIIT: High Intensity Interval Training
This is one of the more interesting workout programs out there. Done correctly and it will not only give you an amazing workout, but get you the results you want in a short period of time.
Done incorrectly and you will be paying a visit to the emergency department in a hospital.
How do you do this correctly?
For starters, don’t overexert yourself in the beginning, set a time frame, set range, and mass that you can do easily and gradually increase them over time. Also, check your ego at the door. Most people who do not do this usually end hurt or worse. So, please check the ego away it’s not worth you getting hurt. And, lastly gauge your recovery. If you feel too sore the next workout day take it off let your body recover properly with enough time to do so, this is an intense workout and giving your body an extra day to heal can only lead you to massive gains, and getting a rockstar body.
What comprises a HIIT workout?
HIIT means High Intensity Interval Training. Basically, high amount of repetitions with light weight for long periods of time and short periods of rest in between (below is an example of a HIIT workout).
Please note that this workout program is merely a small example. There are thousands and thousands of different types of HIIT programs out there that all you have to do on Google is type HIIT and you can find different types of programs that can fit your lifestyle.
Now there are major factors that come with this kind of training which I have list above and I usually would not give it to just anyone because of the massive amounts of torque factors that go through the joints and if I am no less than 100% sure that my joints can take it I simply don’t do it. More importantly I would not even prescribe it to a client unless we have completely done a full ITS session and have continued those sessions for a long time. For more information on how to get started on the ITS system click here so we can get you started.
OK so I am going to end it here for now as next week we are going to look at the advantages, disadvantages, myths, and truths about HIIT and further dissect this very interesting and effective training regimen.
