F & F: New Year’s Resolutioners
Last years F & F section seemed a bit removed from the topic of the month, this year I have worked to keep it on topic and tried to keep things more in focus.
So, for this months F & F I am going to explain to you guys about what we have been talking about all month and the biggest faux pa that has been around for such a long time. New Year’s Resolutions.
I can sum all of this up in a single statement: New Year’s Resolutions don’t work. Why? Now that is the loaded question. I will answer the two biggest why’s that exist with that why. And they are:
Why don’t New Year’s Resolutions work?
Well there are multiple reasons why they don’t work and none of them are because the person had bad intentions. One may be work related obligations, family related obligations, illness, travel, friends, you where just feeling too lazy one day. I know these because it happens to me on a yearly basis. To keep going to gym daily is not an easy thing to do. I know only a very small handful of people that can do it. I am not one of them. I go to the gym on a daily basis because my job requires me to. I’ll bet you never would have thought you would have heard that coming from a personal trainer! The trick to overcome this is simple just get to the gym, even if you don’t feel like going just go.
Why do we set New Year’s Resolutions?
This is simple. We set them because we see for ourselves the issues that we have with ourselves and we want to correct them. This is a good thing, a very good thing. The problem is that this changes throughout the year and then we fall into the previous why. So, our intensions are good, but we cannot execute because of external (sometimes internal) factors. The main thing to take out of this, get back on the wagon ASAP. Don’t stay off of it for too long.
Usually this is the time of year where all of the New Year’s Resolutioners are starting to fall off the wagon. If this is you, I have a simple solution for you. Get in your car, wear some comfortable clothing and just drive, drive and hopefully your drive will take you to the gym. Go inside and talk to some of the friends you met over the last couple of weeks. Then hit the weights. Hopefully you have contacted us and we set up a workout program for you by now and now you have a recipe for success. You are at the gym, talking to some friends, and you have a plan to follow. Next up, beach in the summer with a sexy body.
